Known on the Sailnet Atomic 4 list as qshicks@aol.com, Urban Shicks was a knowledgeable mechanic who shared his knowledge freely. He will be missed by all that knew him, whether in person or online.

Urban Shick
NEW LONDON - Urban F. Shick, 66, of 366 Jefferson Ave., New London, died Sunday, October 17, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 6, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA the son of William H. and Catherine Quirk Shick.
He was married to Mary Ann Bowen Shick at Langley Air Force Base, Langley, VA on April 21, 1968.
Mr. Shick served in the US Navy for 22 years from 1957 until retirement in 1979. He is a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Following his military service he ran a small boat mechanical system repair shop in Noank until 1997. In recent years he enjoyed linking up with old engine mechanics, observing birds and wildlife around his home, and he most especially loved playing with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Mary Ann, he is survived by his sons; Jeffrey Shick of Groton and William Shick and his wife Andrea of Groton, and his 2 grandchildren; Adam Christopher Shick and Christine Rae Shick.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic. Calling hours will be held at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London on Wednesday from 4 7 PM. "... be sure to fill the grease cups with real water pump grease since the grease makes part of the sealing system... the grease you want is lubplate if you look in the archives you will find plenty of info and sources for it"
