PearsonYachts built 276 Alberg 35s between '61 and '66. In the mid-60s, Ericson built about 30 Alberg 35s with Ericson designed cabins.
Research indicates that the Alberg designed Ericsons, known as the E-35-1, were built from a discarded mold that Pearson abandoned in California when they stopped building boats on the west coast. Ericson built around 30 boats from this hull mold before someone (not sure if it was Pearson or Alberg himself) brought legal action against Ericson. Left without a 35-footer, Ericson turned to Bruce King to design the E-35-2, an evolutionary step beyond the Carl Alberg design.
